Albert Romeo Emond passed away on March 24, 2017 at the age of 92. He was the youngest of the family, made up of four boys and four girls, so this closes the chapter on this generation. His oldest sister Mary passed away in 2012 at the age of 103. Albert was born in St. Victor on April 18, 1924. He was raised on a farm south of Assiniboia and went to Kea school until his mother’s passing in 1938. He then went to stay with his sister Valida Lamontagne and her husband Paul where he attended Joeville School until grade 8. He then went out to earn his own keep. Albert married Marguerite Gaucher October 26, 1948. They settled on a farm six and a half miles west of Lisieux. After three consecutive crop failures, they acquired the White Rose service station in Lisieux. There he sold gas at the pumps, delivered farm fuel and furnace fuel, did tire repairs, welding, tractor and automotive repair. He continued in this business for 28 years until the cost of converting the gas pumps to the metric system forced him to close. He went to work for Paul’s Machine Shop in Lisieux for three years, then Crossroad Pontiac in Assiniboia for one year and finally for Tom Jackson Implements in Rockglen for four years. He retired in 1988 and moved to Eastside Court in Assiniboia in August 2011. Albert is survived by his wife, of 68 years, Marguerite (Gaucher) Emond; sons Richard, Denis (Karen), Roland (Tina), Edward (Kaireen), and Martin (Cindy); daughters Madeleine (Paul), Annette (Charlie), Jackie (Gary); 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
