Clem grew up on the family farm near Lisieux, where he developed a strong work ethic that he brought with him to his chosen career as an Iron Worker and Welder. He was a very proud of being promoted to foreman in 1969 and 1970 while working on the refitting and maintenance of Vancouver’s “Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrow Bridge”. He was a loyal union member and would not cross anyone’s picket line. He had numerous home bases though out his life, Calgary, Burnaby, Vancouver, Toronto, Tucson, Phoenix, Assiniboia, and lastly Rockglen, the place of his birth.
He was a hockey and baseball player in younger years and keen sports fan in his older years. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events to cheer them on when he was able to, be it hockey, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, volleyball or football.
His simple personal pleasures in life included buttered popcorn and vanilla ice-cream with multiple toppings and afternoon naps. He was an avid card and crib player, and voracious “smear” player. Clem with his wonderous blue eyes was an adventurous soul always ready for what was over the next hill. Now we are sure he is having his biggest adventure of all.
A celebration of life for Clement will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Ross Funeral Chapel, 123 4th Ave. East, Assiniboia, SK led by Gerald Prefontaine. Fellowship and lunch to follow.
