Deanna Unterreiner

Deanna Doreen Unterreiner (nee Dersch) daughter of the late Glenn and Doreen Dersch was born August 27th, 1948 in Bengough, Saskatchewan. She attended Bengough School. After high school, she attended Nursing School in Moose Jaw for a brief period of time. She then attended business college in Saskatoon. She married the love of her life, August Unterreiner from Horizon on June 27th, 1969. August and Deanna moved to Calgary where their three daughters Shauna, Tara and Michelle were born. They relocated to Saskatoon and then later to Bengough in 1981 where they have resided ever since.

Deanna was an active member of the community and was involved in Girl Guides, the Legion, and curling. She was a wonderful cook and baker, while working at the bakery, many restaurants in town and later owning Gramma Dea’s with August. She was always willing to welcome anyone with a smile, coffee and a warm cinnamon bun. Deanna loved flowers and her garden. Her number one passion was her family, and the light of her life were her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on June 16th, 2023 at the age of 74. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her. We are comforted by the fact that she is no longer struggling to breathe and in pain.

Her life will forever be cherished by her husband of 54 years August Unterreiner, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Shauna (David) Gallaugher - Jordan (Clinton), Jake; Tara (Calin) Gauley - Jayde Gauley, Jessa (Cody) McCrystal, Heather McCrystal, Lane McCrystal, Kennedy Gauley (Mitch); Michelle (Ryan) Pratt - Mattie (Austin) Canning, Ty Ferguson, Hailey and Tyler Pratt; her mother Doreen Dersch; siblings Jack (Maureen) Dersch, Jerry (Bonnie) Dersch, David (Jackie) Dersch, Debbie Forestell, Steven (Kelly) Dersch; brother-in-law Lorne Jackle, brother-in-law Robert (Donna) Unterreiner, sister-in-law Marilynn (Vern) Sillers; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and of course all of her beloved spoiled grand pups. She is predeceased by her father Glenn Dersch and sister-in-law Barbara Jackle.

A come and go celebration of her life took place on July 7th, 2023 at the Bengough Drop In Center in Bengough, Saskatchewan from 2-4pm. A tribute to her life took place at 2:30 at the Drop In Center. Interment followed at the Horizon Cemetery, Horizon, Saskatchewan.
