Doris Evelyn Price

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Doris Price (Avonlea, SK) formerly of Assiniboia, SK. Doris passed away peacefully after a long and full life on January 20, 2013 at the age of 90 with family by her side.

Doris was born November 2, 1922 in Outlook, SK and after completing her schooling in Hanley, SK she moved to Assiniboia, SK where she worked for Canada Post and then married Wally Price where they farmed together with brother Mervin (Sis) Price. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxilliary, attended and active St. Paul’s United Church member and was an active member with Club 55. Doris enjoyed and excelled at hand crafts and the family members have many treasured afghans, quilts and sweaters. She also enjoyed travelling with family and friends for many years to tropical destinations as well as seeing most of Canada and the United States.

Doris was predeceased by parents Henning and Irene Berquist, husband Wally Price and sisters, June Ryder, Pearl Breadner, Lillian Berquist, Edna Berquist and brother Henning Berquist.

Doris is survived by her sisters Ethel Fitzpatrick and Jean Hall; her brother Ken (Shirley) Berquist; her loving children Brian (Brenda) Price, Debbie Butler, Kevin (Michelle) Price; her grandchildren Nicole Price, Tanya Price, Leha Svingen, Jackie Price, Jenna Shaw, Matthew Butler and great-grandchildren Miah Price, Serenity Svingen, Jack Svingen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris’ family would like to extend a special thanks to the very caring staff at the Coteau Range Manor in Avonlea, SK for allowing our Mom to live a dignified life.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm in St. Paul’s United Church, Assiniboia, SK. Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiating. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Donations in Memory of Doris may be made to the Coteau Range Manor, P.O. Box 60, Avonlea, SK, S0H 0C0.
