January 22, 1938 – March 6, 2025
"Frieda" Bokor passed away at the age of 87 at Prairie View Health Centre, Mankota, SK. Frieda was born to John and Emma Lochart on the Lochart Homestead south of Mankota in the McEachern District. She was the fifth of six children: William, John, Edward, Norman, and Emma. In 1939, the family moved to the Horse Creek district.
After her mother’s passing in 1942, Frieda and her sister Emma lived with their Uncle Victor, Aunt Mary, and cousins Ida and Linda Rausch in Palmer. Frieda attended Palmer School for grades 1–3 before returning home to Horse Creek to live with her family. She attended Lark Hill School for grades 4–8 and completed high school in Mankota. While attending high school, she boarded with the Flaata family and had fond memories of her friendship with Vivian and Beverly.
Frieda pursued nursing at Moose Jaw Union Hospital, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1961. She spent her career at Mankota Union Hospital, retiring in 2008. She was deeply committed to caring for her community and cherished the friendships she built with colleagues.
At a rodeo in Opheim, Montana, Lloyd Bokor asked Frieda’s father for permission to drive her home. This was the beginning of their life together. Frieda and Lloyd married on August 4, 1961, and raised their daughters, Debra and Penny, on their farm 12 miles south of Mankota in the Summer Cove District. Frieda enjoyed helping Lloyd on the farm.
After Lloyd’s passing in 1999, Frieda remained on the farm until 2021, when she moved to Prairie View Health Centre.
Frieda was very proud of her community. She was involved with the United Church, was a Lioness, and served on the cemetery improvement committee. She enjoyed curling and bowling and participated in and volunteered for social and community events. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and watching Westerns, Turner Classic Movies, and good old comedies such as The Beverly Hillbillies. She kept up with current events, was an avid CNN watcher, and never shied away from a political debate. She liked to travel some of her favorite destinations were Hawaii, New York City, Las Vegas, and Mexico. Frieda also enjoyed drives down the range line, looking at the hills. She looked forward to treating her family to an annual trip to the Fort Peck Theater. One of her greatest joy came from visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing her life stories and wisdom.
The family would like to thank her extended family, the staff, of Prairie View Health Centre for their friendship, care, and kindness in her later years.
