The funeral mass for Henriette Fitzpatrick, who passed away peacefully at the age of 96, was held March 21, 2017 at St. Ignace Parish in Willow Bunch, SK. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Assiniboia, SK. Memorials were received for Prairie Villa in Assiniboia. Ross Funeral Service was in care of the arrangements. Henriette was born and raised on her family homestead just north of Fife Lake, SK. She was the youngest of eight children of Gustave and Rosalie Lodomez. She attended Bannerman School and achieved her Grade 10. Thereafter, she did housekeeping for various families until she was needed at home when her brothers were called to the war. In 1940, Henriette met and fell in love with Leo Fitzpatrick, and they were engaged shortly thereafter. In 1941, Leo answered the call of his country and joined the Canadian Army. It was not until Leo returned from overseas in April, 1946, that the pair were finally able to tie the knot. Henriette and Leo began their married life on the Fitzpatrick family homestead until they were able to purchase their own farm in 1951. Shortly after that, they bought a home in Willow Bunch, SK, where they raised five children. They continued to operate their farm, and spent their summers at the farm house. In the early 1970s Henriette started working part time at the Willow Bunch post office, and later full time. She worked at the post office for eleven years before her retirement. Henriette continued to reside in Willow Bunch until she moved to the Prairie Villa in Assiniboia in 2009. She enjoyed her years at Prairie Villa very much, always appreciating the staff who cared for her. In February, 2017 she moved to Extendicare in Moose Jaw, until her peaceful passing on March 14, 2017. Henriette was a very active member of the St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church, and the community of Willow Bunch. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, the Ladies of the Parish, the church choir, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Hills of the Home Senior Centre. She loved curling, camping, sewing, playing cards, singing, dancing, and socializing with friends. Henriette was also an avid gardener and an excellent cook. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Henriette is predeceased by her husband Leo, and six of her siblings. She is survived by her sister, Yvonne Allan, and a sister-in-law, Olga Philippon. She is also survived by her five children, Albert (Louis), Michael (Vicki), Marlene (Bryan), Gerald (Jeanette), Kathy (Guy), 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
