Lenore Kwasnicki of Scout Lake, SK, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2012 at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Pearl Kwasnicki, husbands John Kuepper and Norbert Ruder and brother-in-law Terry Gibney, Lenore is survived by her loving husband Lorne Kwasnicki, her sons: John (Tammy) and their children Jessica and Lindsay, Walter and Darren (Barb) Rafoss; step-children: Anita, Nancy (Mike) Wirges, Ted (Kareena) and Matthew; 10 step-grandchildren; sister-in-law Gwen Gibney and brother-in-law Les (Maureen) Kwasnicki, numerous nieces and nephews. Lenore, known these past four years as Lizzy, was born September 2, 1937, in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was adopted by Rudolph (Ralph) & Pearl Kwasnicki. She lived on the farm three miles west of Scout Lake and went to Stefan School three miles north. She walked to school through fields and pastures. She attended a few years of school at the convent in Gravelbourg. She attended at least one year at the High School in Assiniboia after her parents moved to Assiniboia. In 1958 she married John Kuepper. It was an arranged marriage with only her parents as witnesses. Three boys were born from this union: John Jr., Walter, and Darren. After 17 years, John and Lenore divorced and Lenore married Norbert Ruder (in 1978). They moved eleven times during their thirty years of marriage. Their places of residence included Regina, Maxstone, Scout Lake, Assiniboia, Wolseley, and finally, St. Victor. They built new houses at Maxstone and Scout Lake. Lizzy worked at the Banbury Inn in Wolseley for Norbert’s sister and brother-in-law. She worked at the motel in Rockglen for Monty and Marj Heatcoat for five years, did housework for Bob & Cecile Boutin for eight years and also worked at the West Harvest Inn in Assiniboia for awhile. While on the farm at Maxstone and acreage in Scout Lake she raised chickens, ducks and turkeys. She had a big vegetable garden and a beautiful flower garden. She loved her German Shepherd dogs and her Red Thunderbird. In 1994 they sold the acreage in Scout Lake to Lorne Kwasnicki, after he lost his house at his ranch from fire. On July 31, 2008 Norbert Ruder died after a long illness. Within six weeks after his death Lizzy and I decided we wanted to be together and were engaged. On December 20, 2008, we were married. She was back in the house she loved. Lizzy said the years of her marriage to Lorne were the happiest years of her life, even if she was fighting cancer for quite a bit of it. Lizzy liked to listen to music, enjoying Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline and loved old time music as played by Walter Ostenek, Edgar Heatcoat, and the Melody Five. She was happiest at home, cleaning and cooking. Prayer Vigil was held Thursday March 15, 2012 in Ross Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, March 16, 2012 in St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK. Father Joy Montiague and Father Andrew Pawlowicz con-celebrants. Urn bearer was Lorne. John & Tammy Kuepper lit the Pascal Candle. Music Ministry was led by Ted Kwasnicki and Nancy Wirges. Readers were Jeremy Worges and Camille Gibney and the Offertory gifts were presented by step-grandchildren. Interment in St. Mary’s R.C. Cemetery, Maxstone, SK. Masses or donations in Memory of Lenore may be made to the Sask. Cancer Agency or St. Mary’s Historical Society. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
