Mary Myers was born January 25, 1933 and raised in the Corning area. She attended school and worked hard all her life. She got married and moved to the Pontiex area and after her marriage failed she became a single mother of four trying to raise her children. She returned to the Corning area, but became ill and with the help of her parents they made a home for them. She met and married Tom Rodgers of Handsworth where they farmed. During this time she raised chickens and turkeys to sell. She joined the United Church Women’s group in Handsworth. After his passing in 1979 she moved to Stoughton were she babysat for a living. She later met and married Lloyd Myers. They moved to Roche Percee and she worked 14 years for Home Care. She decided to retire at her surprise 65th birthday. She cared for her ailing husband until his death. She then moved to Estevan where her health started to deteriorate so she moved to Coronach Heritage Square in 2001, later moving to Pretty Valley Lodge to get away from stairs. Her health further deteriorated causing her to move to Coronach Health Center where she spent three years. On February 19, 2014, Mary she passed away peacefully -- she has joined her daughter Annette in Heaven. Every summer she loved picking Saskatoon and Chokecherries, making pies and jams --they were the best ever. Mary loved to spend time with her family and friends. She loved the times when everyone would be together for Christmas. She would cook up the biggest meal ever. Cabbage rolls were one thing she always had on hand. She knew everyone loved them. Her favorite dessert to make was Cherry Cha Cha. She also loved to cook meals when Gary and Bonnie were harvesting. She would make suppers and she and Helen would take the meals to the field. The two of them where happy just to go to the field. When her health failed, and unable to drive, Bonnie always tried to bring her out to the farm and field for visits. She loved family and all of her friends. Mary loved quilting, gardening, playing smear and canasta. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and yahtzee. Mary joined Legion Auxiliary and she enjoyed being a Legion member. Every year she loved watching Telemiracle – an event she always looked forward to. Mary always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone into her life and heart, just as we are sure God welcomed her into Heaven. ‘We will miss you so much. You were the best mother anyone could ask for.’
