Penny Joyce Peterson

February 21, 1949 - May 20, 2026

It is with great sadness the family of Penny Joyce Peterson announces her passing at Ross Payant Nursing Home at the age of 77 on May 20, 2026, with family by her side. Penny was born to Roy and Jessie Peterson (nee Watt) at the Assiniboia Union Hospital February 21,1949.

Penny grew up on the family farm north of Assiniboia near Congress Sk. She completed her public education at the Airlie District School, continuing to high school in Assiniboia at ACHS (Assiniboia Composite High School). Penny was an independent free-spirited woman. Once she completed school she moved to Regina to pursue a career in nursing. She was a compassionate person who cared for the elderly as a Care Aid in her own private business and in many long-term care facilities in Regina, Moose Jaw and Avonlea SK. She was passionate about homeopathic medicine and received her certification in Reflexology.

Penny enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers. She was a remarkable cook and baker. Penny loved animals. Throughout her life Penny had many pets and cared for many stray animals that she encountered in her travels. Penny loved music especially Elvis Presley and was a big Country and Western fan. She loved to dance and played her guitar.

Above all Penny loved her family and friends. Spending time with each of her sister and brother’s families and caring for her mother in later years. Penny adored her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. Many of them looking forward to spending time with her each year during their summer vacations.

Penny is predeceased by her parents Roy and Jessie, brothers Dennis, Melvin and Dale (Linda) and by her sister Barb Peterson. Penny will be dearly missed by her family: brother John (Betty) Peterson, sister-in-law Penny, brother-in-law Ron Peterson and friend Keith Karst. Nieces and nephews: Randy, Wayne, Terry, Melanie, Mike, Tammy Shubrink, Cindy, Pamela Engstrom, Greg, Trevor, Jeff, Tim and Adam and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held for her family and friends at Emmanuel Prairie Gardens Congress SK on Thursday June 18, 2026, at 2:00PM. Pastor Sarah Mowat presiding. With a celebration of life to follow at John and Betty’s farm.
