With heavy hearts, we share the loss of our beloved Ronald Fettes, who passed away April 24, 2014. Predeceased by son Mark and parents, Norman & Gladys, Ronald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bev (Hoglund); daughters Karen & Eric and their children: Marissa, Austin, Spencer, Carter and Jaxson and Raylene & Derek and their children Coy and Kyle; siblings: Marlin (Lorraine), Garry (Lynda), Myrna Fettes and Kenneth and sister-in-law Val (Joe) Moroz as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and an auntie and an uncle. Ronald Norman was born October 15, 1939 in the Gladmar district of Sask. The family farmed in the Gladmar and Minton district, until October 1949 when they moved to farm northeast of Readlyn in the RM Lake of the Rivers. Ronald received his education in Diamond Coulee and Zenith schools. Ron had 15 memorable years working with the Department of Highways. Ronald married Beverly Hoglund December 16, 1961. They resided in Assiniboia until 1966 when Ronald was transferred to the Bengough Department of Highways. They worked the farm in the Hardy district for several years and in September of 1972 Ronald was transferred back to Assiniboia Department of Highways. In 1974 Ronald and Beverly purchased the Hoglund farm north of Assiniboia - while they still farmed in the Hardy District. They have made Assiniboia their home ever since. Ron’s interests were farming and people – always loved a visit and believed to live as the Farmer’s Creed read. His love for his animals was special – an ever lasting legacy of kinship. He loved his family time which included fun, laughter and traditions – and teachings to last a lifetime. Ronald’s service was held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Ross Funeral Chapel, with Reverend Marilyn Leuty officiating. Tribute was delivered by granddaughter Marissa. Pallbearers were his grandchildren and nephew Kent. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
