

Ronald Smith passed away peacefully at the Assiniboia Integrated Facility on January 25, 2012.
Dad was born in Weyburn, Sask. on October 9, 1922. He grew up on the family farm around Melaval. After grade twelve, Dad joined the RCAF in 1942. He was training to be a navigator, however, due to ear problems, he was discharged. He married his high school sweetheart, Madeline (Matthews) in 1947. They moved to his grandparents' farm in the Limerick district in 1948. In 2009, Dad proudly received The Century Farm Award for this parcel of land that provided his livelihood.
Dad's life centered around his children, Marion, Joanne (John), Linda (Richard), Robert (Laurie). He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren, Richard, Adam (Shawna), Karl, Colleen, Kevin (Alessia), Mark and Derek. His great-grandchildren were a delight, Taylor, Drew and Anton. Dad was involved in Oddfellows, Local Wheat Pool, Co-op, Local School Board, Ross Payant Nursing Home and the 49ers. As time went on Dad enjoyed bowling, gardening and a good game of cards.
Gone, but not forgotten, a service was held on January 30, 2012 in Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK, with Reverend Tomlinson-Seebach officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. A private interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Limerick. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
