

Lila Virginia Cummings was born on June 1926 in Norfolk Virginia, the youngest of four children. She passed away on July 14, 2014, in Templeton. As a child, her family moved to Detroit where her father was an executive for the Ford motor company, eventually moving to Long Beach Calif. where Lila graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1944. Lila attended college in Santa Barbara, moving to Atascadero in 1951,where she worked as a secretary for 24 years at Atascadero High School, retiring in 1986. In her younger years Lila enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. After retiring she and Bob traveled extensively throughout the United States. Lila had a deep faith in god and was an active member of St. Luke's church for over 48 years. Lila was an avid quilter and loved spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lila was preceded in death by her father Walter Boehling; mother Nina Boehling; brother Grant and sisters Nina and Dottie. She is survived by her husband Bob Cummings; children Rebecca (Jim) Curneen of Gig Harbor Wash., Steve (Pat) Cummings, of Redding, Calif., Leslie (Ken) Brattin of Selah, Wash., Harriet (Steve) Derossett of Santa Clara, Calif., Maureen (Mark) Pittenger of Kent Wash., Mike (Debbie) Cummings of Brighton, Colo.,Michael Maloy of Cortez, Colo., Mark (Mary) Cummings of Wasco, Calif. and Linda (Ron) Berry of Atascadero; nineteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church located at 5318 Palma Ave in Atascadero, with a celebration of life and lunch to follow at noon at 3095 Avenida Del Sol in Atascadero for all of Lila's family and friends. In lieu of flowers a donation may be sent to St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Atascadero or Woods Humane Society in Atascadero.
