

The funeral service for Daniel “Dewayne” Robinson, age 59, of Athens, AL; will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his home working in the back yard. He was born January 25, 1955 in Meridian Mississippi to Wilmer Earl Robinson and Sybil Robinson. Mr. Robinson retired from the Army Reserved as a Major. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard and Army Reserved. He was called up during Desert Storm. He was a Journeyman electrician, a Registered Nurse at Athens-Limestone hospital and worked for a time as a travel nurse. He worked in places from Hawaii to the Virgin Islands to Alaska and many other places in between. He loved trains and loved to take pictures of trains. He loved going to the beach. He loved to snorkel and watching the fishes. He loved to feed the birds and set in the porch swing and watch the birds.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Ginger Robinson; son, Cannon “Lance” Robinson of Athens, AL; daughter, Cassidy Shea Robinson of Anchorage, AK; mother, Sybil Robinson of Meridian, MS; brother, Ricky Earl Robinson of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Wilma Loyce Cave of Sweetwater, AL and Emily Sue Ray of Meridian, MS
Pallbearers will be Thomas Brown, Norm Cleveland, Jeremy Bunyard, Trevor Bunyard, Chris Allen, Ted Blanton Mickey Bunyard, Chad Neal and Andy Blakley.
