

Mr. Meadows was born December 28, 1935 in Athens, AL to Riley F. Meadows and Lilly Merle Sandlin Meadows. He attended high school in Athens, AL, and he attended college in Kansas City, MO.
He attended high school in Athens, AL. Don enlisted in the United States Air Force in December 1952 and was discharged in November 1973. Following his military service, he attended college in Kansas City, Missouri and worked for the General Services Administration. He spent 20 years working for General Services Administration (GSA) as a Buildings Manager, spending the last 4 years in Washington D.C. Central Headquarters. He retired from the General Services Administration in January 1993.
Don was a man of many passions, but none more cherished than his love for his family, dogs and singing to whomever would listen. An avid shooter and gun collector, he spent many hours perfecting his craft and meticulously reloading shells. His expertise was matched only by his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge with others.
Beyond his love for shooting, Don was an avid collector of wildlife art. He possessed a remarkable talent for fixing things, a skill he honed through years of remodeling homes.
Don’s greatest joy came from the simple pleasures of life: walking his beloved dogs Reba and Ginger, engaging in heartfelt conversations with his neighbors, and traveling to visit friends and family. His kind demeanor and friendly smile touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Survivors include his wife , Jerry Meadows; three daughters, Kim Krohn (Russ), Kelly Weehunt and Kippi VanHoogstrate (Kurt); four grandchildren, Ashley Weehunt, Alex VanHoogstrate, Gavin VanHoogstrate, and Savannah VanHoogstrate.
Predeceased in death by his former wife, Dorothy May Holder Meadows, one brother, Floyd Meadows (Pugg), and three sisters, Eloise Meadows, Marlene Meadows Cary (Paul) and Mary Ann Meadows Ball (Eddie).
There will be a graveside service Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Isom’s Chapel Cemetery.
