He was born July 3, 1929.
Survivors are wife Elizabeth L. Garrett, daughter Phyllis G. Brock of Lynchburg, TN; granddaughters, Elizabeth Thompson and Leah Buckelew of Athens, AL and six great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held Monday, April 10, 2017 with visitation from 2-4 at McConnell Funeral Home, Athens, AL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Athens, AL or Moore County Senior Center of Lynchburg, TN.
