
The funeral service for George W. Putman, age 79 of Elkmont, will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home chapel with Brother Steve Ferguson and Brother Tony Wales officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. George W. Putman died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Putman was born February 27, 1930 to Sam and Eva Daly Putman. He was married to Freda Ruf Putman for 31 years. He was a longtime co-owner of P&H Auto Parts in Athens. He was a member of Elkmont Church of Christ. Mr. Putman was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Magdalene Putman, stepson Dwight Clark, one brother Carl Putman, three sisters Eloise Pack, Lessie Raney, and Jessie Black and stepgrandson Dustin Clark.
Survivors include his wife Freda Ruf Putman of Elkmont; one son Ruddie Putman of Athens; two daughters Gloria Lott of Decatur; Karen McElyea of Athens; two step-sons Dwaine Clark and Dennis Clark both of Elkmont; one brother Sam Putman of Athens; two sisters Pauline Pitts and Jewel Adams both of Athens; six grandchildren Angie Cushing of Decatur; Amanda Hicks of Athens; Mary Lane Lott of Decatur; Sam Lott of Decatur; Leigh Carl McElyea of Athens; Jess McElyea of Athens; six step-grandchildren Kayce Blasingim, Calvin Clark, Daco Clifton all of Lawrenceburg, TN; Herby Clark of Mt. Julia, TN; Dylan Clark of Elkmont; and Gage Clark of Elkmont.
Pallbearers will be Sam Lott, Jess McElyea, Chuck Cushing, Rick Franklin, Dylan Clark, Herby Clark, and honorary pallbearer Gage Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorials be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
