Hard to believe that Gina has been gone a year!  She was a sweet lady and a very good friend of mine. I enjoyed working with her at Athens State University all those past years. She was a lot of fun to be around!!!

I had the pleasure of working alongside Gina for the last 10 years. She was the sweetest, kindest soul I have ever known. She was eager to lend a helping hand to whoever she encountered...faculty, staff, and students. She treated everyone with the utmost kindest regardless of their title. When she got moved to the front desk, she had found her happy place. I don't think they could have put a better person out front. 

Gina was always so supportive and encouraging. She was a true friend. Her bubbly personality was always inspirational and infectious. This place is definitely not the same without you. Gina...your beautiful spirit touched a lot of people. You are truly missed!!!

Gina was the sweetest woman I've ever known. We spent ALOT of time with Gina and Josephus as kids and no matter how many bears I broke or what kind of mischief I caused  she would laugh and fix it. I hate that growing up kept me away. I love you guys! Gina will forever be my adopted sister! Love you always Carol

I worked with Gina at Athens State.  She would greet everyone with a smile every morning and said "Good Morning"! Everyone loved Gina.   She was so kind to everyone.  She received the John "Booty" Murray award this past year.  We gathered around to be a part of the surprise  when the Staff Senate presented it to her.  She was truly honored.  She deserved that award and I am thankful it was her this year.  She embodied the meaning behind that award. 
 
My office is off the main lobby and I would hear her on the phone with students.  She even stayed on the phone with several students while they were trying to make their way to Athens State for an appointment, campus tour, etc.  I always thought "now, that is customer service".  She always asked about my family when they were sick.  She cared so much about others. 

 Gina, I will miss your beautiful smile and infectious laugh.  As Jonathan told David "You will be missed for your seat will be empty".    

Our department will never be the same without Gina.  I hope we meet again one day!

I had the joy of changing jobs about two years ago and came to Athens State. Gina worked in the office with me. I’ll always remember her as a bright spot in the office. Always happy, always color coordinated - down to the jewelry and nails, and she loved it if I followed suit! I learned very quickly how much she loved her Joe and her doggies. Gina is missed already and has left a big hole. Thankful I will see her again someday in Heaven.

Gina was such a kind soul. I worked with Gina at Athens State. She would always ask me about my dogs everytime she saw me. She was so kind to me and I will never forget her smile.

I didn't know Gina very well but the few times we were together at family functions, she always had a smile on her face. Gina and Joe made the cutest couple. You could see the love they had for each other. My only regret is I didn't get to know her  better. My heart aches for the family and their loss on such a beautiful soul.

Once at a sleepover, we were playing Pictionary and it's Gina's turn. She starts drawing what we all think is a swing set. Turns out it was a cow, she was drawing a stick figure cow.

We knew Gina through her parents who worked at the college and then she followed along.
When Tucker was born, Gina made us the most beautiful cross stitch which hung in Tuckers baby room until he went to a twin bed. We still have it and cherish it. She was so sweet, joyful and thoughtful.

Gina was a dear daughter-in-law always had a smile. Gina Loved Joe from the first time she saw his blond hair and blue eyes. Her words. She loved her fur babies and everyone else's also.  Not to forget those nails always done to perfection to match every outfit.  I loved her very much We will miss her being at all the get togethers, with her cheerful voice.  Love and Peace Gina

Gina was the sweetest co worker. I was new to the area and she always checked in on me and my dog. Vicke, Gina, and I would walk around Athens State every morning and i will hold those early morning conversations close.

I know Joe and Gina from church.  Gina always had a bright smile.  I always looked forward to seeing them at church on Sundays.  They had an incredible love for each other, and I loved to see them wear the same color because it was the sweetest thing and reminded me of two teenager that just started dating.  It is obvious that God brought them together for their life’s journey to grow in faith as Christians, and share the love of  God.

This was after my T-ball game. My mom wasn't going to get in the picture, but Gina insisted on being in it.

I am so sorry that the world lost Gina. Heaven gained an angel. Gina is getting to be the Mother that she didn't get to be on earth. Fly high, Gina, you are dearly missed.

I have so many great memories with Gina it’s hard just to pick a few. We met at Emmanuel many years ago. We were always over at each others houses singing along with Donny Osmond, or talking about him!
One Halloween we were trick or treating in our neighborhood (no parents!-we thought we were grown!) we decided to go over a couple of streets, not where mama and daddy told us to go. As we were walking down the street some teenage boys drove by and threw water balloons at us! We were so scared and started crying! Needless to say we got back where we belonged!
We went to our first concert together. No, it wasn’t Donny Osmond, it was Elvis! We were so excited! Right when Elvis came out on stage Gina’s contact popped out!😂 We spend the entire first song screaming and looking for that contact. We never found it but had an amazing time!
Some of my favorite memories were going to visit Aunt Ann and Uncle George. We would sit in the swing in the back yard with Gaila and her brothers (pretty sure I had a crush on all of them!) and sing! We would sing every song we could think of. If we didn’t know the words we made them up!
There are so many more wonderful memories that I treasure. And I treasure our friendship even more. I miss Gina so much! But I know she’s in Heaven swinging in a swing and singing those songs. And making up the words. I love you Gina and miss you💔

Dear Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences. Gina was a wonderful co-worker that I looked forward to seeing each day as I entered our building. I also looked forward to her bringing Joe's carrot cake that he made from her mother's recipe and his salsa. She always remembered my birthday and my kids birthday. I was always in competition with her during the holidays because she had at least a weeks worth of outfits for each holiday. I only had one :) I/we at Athens State University miss her dearly and I know that you do too.

Missing the Love, Laughter and smiles, always fun to hang out and spend time with, you will remain in our thoughts and memories for a lifetime! Do me favor, look down on us keep us safe!

Gina and I worked together for 13 years.  She was always so kind to me.  Her and Joe even handed over an old dryer many years ago, when my husband and I were in need.  I don't think I'll ever forget this.  Thank you Gina.

We were always together watching movies and eating popcorn!  We'd stay home and watch, or we would all load up and go to Huntsville to catch one.  Gina had one rule, the dog in the movie couldn't be hurt or we couldn't watch it.  She really had a big heart.

Even our granddaughter Taylor was close to Joe & Gina.  I'm surprised she didn't call them Aunt & Uncle!

This was taken on Chris' birthday.  Joe & Gina were always around to help us celebrate!

Not only friends, we were as close as family.  And it stayed that way even after I married Jean.  She helped me so much after Robert died.  I'll always think of her as "family".

We all stayed in Nashville at the Hilton. It was a long motorcycle ride that day October 31, 1998.

This was on a trip to Guntersville Lake.  We all had a great time!

Joe & Gina were avid motorcycle riders and we all went on so many trips together!

Thank you Gina for teaching me the Electric Slide. 
Also for being around when Joe was stationed in MS before yall ever married.  
I remember us driving my big ole 73 Caprice Classic to pick him up for a few days leave and you were reading the old paper map and we only missed one turn but over all you navigated just fine.  
We always had great times when we hung out, laugh and giggle at some crazy stuff lol we were so young.   And dropping in to have lunch at Churches Chicken ,on University Dr across from old Lovemans Mall, on the days you were working there.  
When you and Joe got the Goldwing you put those arm rests down and sat back riding like a queen. 
You will always be in my heart and never forgot.   Love, Dean

Sweet Gina, I loved her sweet kind heart. An the fact that she loved all of Joe’s crazy classmates even when we acted up. I never met anyone that loved so genuinely, but that was Gina. The same from the first time we met. I will miss you forever.

Gina always had a beautiful caring smile, that’s who she was beautiful and caring and always there for Joe.

Gina was a sweet and dear friend who will be missed greatly!!!  I enjoyed working at Athens State University with Gina very much. Before she was moved to the front desk in the Student Center, her cubicle was in front of mine and we and the other ladies in the Records Office had a lot of good times and laughs!!!  

I will miss having lunch with her and Kim Troupe!!!
