
The funeral for Homer Alanzo Schrimsher, 79, of Athens will be Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with George Whitten officiating. Mr. Schrimsher will lie in state at the church from 1 – 2 p.m. The burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 6 – 9 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Schrimsher died Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home.
Homer Alanzo Schrimsher was born December 8, 1930 in Limestone County to William Claude Schrimsher and Una Mae Wagnon Schrimsher. He served in the U.S. Navy May 12, 1948 to April 23, 1952 with honorable service in the Korean Conflict. He was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Schrimsher, and his wife Betty, would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in October.
Mr. Schrimsher was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty Maxine Schrimsher, two sons, Gary Schrimsher and wife Sandra, Phillip Schrimsher and wife Lynnese, two daughters, Diane Allcorn and husband Joey, Kaye Kindred and husband Jim all of Athens, four brothers, Glenn Schrimsher and wife Mary of West Palm Beach, FL, Morris Schrimsher and wife Patty, Clyde Schrimsher and wife Micky, Jerry Schrimsher and wife Helen, two sisters, Mauvoline Yarbrough and Ruth Miles all of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon Schrimsher, Matthew Schrimsher, Zachary Schrimsher, Adam Jackson, Jordan Jackson, and Joey Allcorn.
