Ms. Ackerman was born Oct. 10, 1923 in Huntsville, AL to William Arthur Vassar and Clara Bell Hall Vassar.
Her parents and several brothers and sisters precede her in death. She was a member of Capshaw Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, William Ackerman, and one daughter, Donna Gilbert.
The funeral service will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Brother Buc Chumbley officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Pepper, Wade Pepper, Jeff Abernathy, Jim Pettie, Billy Parmley, and Billy Ackerman.
