William Timothy Jones

Mr. Jones was born February 27, 1954 to William Henry Jones and Lella Holt Jones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wesley Brown, and one grandson, Matthew Allen.

Mr. Jones was a member of the United States Army, before transferring to the Army National Guard and retiring after 20 years of service. During that time, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and earned numerous medals and achievements, which are as follows: Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Parachutist Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Special Forces TAB. After retiring from the military, he went on to work as a supervisor for Champion International Paper in Courtland, AL where he retired.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Jones of Decatur, Katherine Jones of Moulton, daughter and caregiver, Lauren Allen (Mickey) of Athens; sisters Terri Jones of California, Deana Garcia (Ben) of California; grandchildren Mary Elswick, Melanie Allen, Rachel Sides, Jonathan Jones, Olivia Sparks, Emma Allen, Elijah Allen, Bentley Jones, Heston Ledlow, Peyton Ledlow, Amiela Ledlow, Madison Ledlow, and Isabella Ledlow.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1 p.m.- 2 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel.
