

A native of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Hafemeister was the daughter of the late Arthur D. Bailey and Eva Francis Koll Bailey and was preceded in death by her husband, David Hafemeister, son, Lawrence “Larry” Kail and grandson Jason Strickland (Sue's son). She was a retired bank officer and a member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
During her eight years of service with the FBI in Washington, D.C. and Seattle, WA Ann worked as secretary for the head of the Secret Intelligence Service of FBI. She then moved around from Houston, TX to Morehead City N.C where she worked several jobs in marketing, sales, insurance, and banking. She ended up in Sea Level N.C. where she met David Hafemeister. They married and then retired to the mountains in Fancy Gap, Virginia. Ann made her last move to Athens, Ga in 2006 to be near to her daughter. Ann was constantly on the go, whether it be to her weekly dominoes game, bridge game, shopping, church, piano lessons, beauty salon, Trader Joes or the movies. She loved the Athens, GA quality of living.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Gauthreaux and husband, Bob of Buford, GA.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday August 23, 2013 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church 100 Janice Dr. Athens, GA 30606 with Pastor Richard Moeller officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Mary's Hospice House 1660 Jennings Mill Rd. Bogart, GA 30622.
