Born in Bogart to the late Albert and Johnnie Mae Porter Dooley, he spent his formative years in Madison attending high school there and later enlisting in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for four years. After completing his military service, Bennie was employed by Lithonia Lighting in Conyers for over 30 years until his retirement when he and Martha moved to their home on Lake Oconee. He loved camping in the mountains, going to the beach, fishing and DANCING!
