Betty was a native and life-long resident of Athens and attended local schools. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a loving wife and mother. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword and word-find puzzles and especially enjoyed working in her yard.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon Julius and Inez Towns Coile; her husband, Homer William Stephens; sister, June Coile; nephew, Bill Eberhart; and her beloved dog, Gucci.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Stephens (Dusty Alexander) and Danny Stephens (Tina) all of Athens; nephews, Rick Eberhart and Frank Eberhart, both of Athens and her dog, Toby.
A private graveside funeral will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
