

Born to the late Herbert Batie Cook and Naomi Bird Cook, Bobby was raised with strong family values and a deep sense of service. He graduated from Oglethorpe County High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. A lifelong man of faith, Bobby was a member of Lexington Baptist Church for many years.
Bobby proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he continued his commitment to others through countless roles in his community. He served on the Oglethorpe County Board of Education, the Oglethorpe Board of Commissioners, the Oglethorpe County High School Booster Club, and on the Board of The Commercial Bank, always working for the betterment of those around him.
Bobby married the love of his life, Anita Brooks Cook, and together they built a devoted and loving family, celebrating 53 wonderful years of marriage. Bobby was a proud father to two sons, Robert D. Cook and Bradley B. Cook, who carry forward his legacy of integrity, faith, and service.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, siblings, Loyd B. Cook, Dorothy C. Fox, Jackie B. Cook, and Joyce C. Jackson. He is survived by his brothers, Walter B. Cook and Herbert A. Cook, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
Bobby will be remembered for his faith, love of family, dedication to his friends in the community, and a steady kindness that touched so many lives.
A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Clark Cemetery in Lexington, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clark Cemetery c/o Lexington Baptist Church or to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
