She was born in Athens, GA on January 30, 1950 to William and Marie Faulkner. Bonnie graduated from Athens High School in 1968 and proudly served on the reunion committee. She attended trade school where she learned secretarial skills and was employed at Westinghouse/ABB/Power Partners. She retired after 40 years of service.
A beloved member of Temple United Methodist Church, Bonnie served on Church Council, various committees, and sang in the choir. She volunteered and provided support to many causes throughout her life, including caring for stray and abandoned animals and helping those in need. Bonnie was a kind and loyal friend, an avid reader, and could possibly be characterized as The Beach Boys’ biggest fan. She enjoyed the arts and often attended concerts, musicals, and plays. Bonnie was also a collector and had an affinity for Depression glass and antique perfume bottles.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 47 years, Harry, daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Maria and Ryan Bernard, and only granddaughter, Eleanor, of Columbia, SC. Bonnie also leaves behind her treasured nieces, in-laws, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 1:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm. A reception will be held afterwards at Temple United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Bonnie’s honor be made to the Athens Area Humane Society, 1781 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
