

A native of Carver, Massachusetts, Mr. Cherry was the son of the late Charles Leon Cherry Sr and Pearl Louise Head Cherry and was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Cherry; daughter, Donna Cherry Perry, and son, Steven Keith Cherry. He served as a Navy Pilot during World War II on the Carrier Lexington. Mr. Cherry moved to Walton County, GA in 1953 and became a dairyman, a farmer, a breeder of Arabian horses, and owner of Cherry Trucking Company. After retiring to Elbert Co, Mr. Cherry was an active tree farmer and conservationist.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Westerfield Cherry; son and daughter-in-law, Scott Leon Cherry and Charlene Couch Cherry; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Warren Snyder; sister and brother-in-law, Althea and Stanley Elwell; brother, Capt. Melvin Allen Cherry; sister-in-law, Phyllis Cherry; grandchildren, Chae Lee and Christy Cherry, Andrea and Scott Miley, Kim and Tommy Taylor, Amy Cherry, and Brandy Cherry; 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces, Marie Louise Cherry and Amy Lynn Cherry.
Funeral services will be held 7PM Thursday, April 4th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Rifle Association or to the Georgia Tree Farm Program Scholarship Fund at Georgia Forestry Association, P.O. Box 1217, Forsyth, GA 31029.
