Born in El Paso, TX, Mr. Layfield was a son of the late Edgar Clinton Layfield and Joyce Virginia Roberson Layfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army, loved his family and the outdoors—especially fishing, hunting and animals.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Kim Layfield of Watkinsville; children: Clint Layfield (Courtney) of Loganville, Adam Layfield of Watkinsville and Dena Thompson (Robert) of Watkinsville; sisters: Brenda Clay of South Carolina and Bonnie Clay of Monroe; brother, Eddie Layfield of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Dena Thomas of Monroe and brother-in-law, DJ Womble of Minnesota; six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m., at Hill Haven Memory Gardens in Monroe with Rev. Charles Harris officiating. Military funeral honors will be rendered by the United States Army.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 7, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home.
