Retiring from the company and market sector Dan and I shared for many years, thinking about old times. I miss Dan immensely.

I still find it hard to believe that Dan is no longer with us. He was a great guy and I really valued his friendship. Many of my best memories from my IBM training days involved Dan and the fun we had in Atlanta together. Rest in peace, Dan.

Dear Donna,
My heart goes out to you and all of the Zuppardo family on the recent passing of Dan.  I will be forever grateful that Dan and I met in 1977 at our first IBM Sales Training Class in Atlanta, Georgia. As former athletes and competitive guys, we bonded immediately and our friendship was life-long after that.  While the geography kept us from seeing each other all that often over the years, our frequent phone conversations helped us maintain our special friendship and he helped me with good advice a number of times. I am thankful that he is no longer in pain and my prayers will continue for all of you during this difficult time.  God bless you all.   Bud Boughton 
     

I shall miss Dan greatly!! We met at SCT in 1982, worked together again at Collegis in the 90’s, and remained good friends and colleagues until the very end. Although we worked at different companies for the last 23 years we always stayed in touch and loved getting together at conferences, where we spent most of our time laughing and telling stories about the “good ole days”.  We often joked about writing a book about our interesting (crazy!) times at SCT. If that book is ever written, Dan will certainly be listed in the credits. Dan was one of the best Sales Executives and Business Leaders I have ever known: smart, focused, hard working, highly professional with the utmost integrity. But most important, he was a good friend. I will miss him dearly. 

My most sincere, heartfelt condolences go out to his lovely wife Donna, his sons, stepchildren, grandchildren, and brother. I am so, so sorry for your loss. May Dan’s memory be a blessing.

My condolences to you and your family.  Zip and I first met in midget football in the 4th grade, but our parents and grandparents all lived in the Italian section of South Lima and all went to St John's Catholic church.  So,  we knew our family' historìes and all the other Italian families histories from a very young age.  We competed against each other later in sports in Lima and then renewed our friendship in College.  He introduced me to the Sigma Chi's.  Way too many stories to tell.   While we both moved on in our lives we stayed in touch.  I will miss our conversations, but will tell stories of my very good friend Dan Zuppardo for the rest of my life.

One of my favorite photos of Dan with our son, Scott Zuppardo.  I believe this was the weekend of Scott and Cindy's wedding in 2010.

So very sorry for Dan's passing and the heartache of the past 6 years of his battle with cancer.  I am praying that God's peace that passes all understanding and happy memories sustain you all at this difficult time.  My deepest condolences.

I offer my sincere condolences to the Zuppardo family.  I met Dan when his employer was bidding for a contract with mine.  I found him to be an amazingly ethical and kind person.  He was a joy to talk to and over time, Dan became a friend.  I truly appreciated that he offered to speak with my son about sports journalism and even suggested avenues to him as he launched his career.  Dan made the world a better place and I appreciated his friendship and our frank discussions.  He will be missed!

May God grant peace to his family during this difficult time.

Donna….Phillip and I cherish the short few years we knew Dan. He was part of our Thursday Wannabes! Dan always displayed the attributes of a perfect gentleman while making everyone around him feel included and welcome. That is truly a special gift! Dan loved to share stories of his hunting adventures. He knew I was terrified of snakes and relished sharing pictures and stories of his near encounters with the beasts will out hunting! He delighted in showing me pictures. He did it in such a way that I could never be upset with him as he said it was for my own benefit…that I would become immune to the pictures in time….sadly fate did not give us enough time……

We pray for your comfort and peace in the days ahead!

I first met Dan (Zip) 50+ years ago at BGSU, when a group of us who are Sigma Chi’s,  adopted him as a honorary member.  I saw him this past August and he talked about how lucky he was because in spite of his health challenges, he had this wonderful family that he was so proud of and who he loved more than anything.
The highest praise I can give someone is to say they are a good man and a good friend.  Dan was both.
Colleen and I are deeply sorry for your loss.

Donna, I’m so very saddened to be told of Dan’s death. We were together at Georgia Southern those three years a lived across the hall from one another. I’ll never forget his Lima, Ohio, heritage. He was such a wonderful guy and friend. I was a student athletic trainer at the time and spent just about every day around him and the other players. We were all quite close. There have been so many times that I’ve wondered about Dan. This was quite a shock to me. You have my most sincere sympathies for your great loss.

I played baseball with Danny at Georgia Southern in the early 70s. I remember him a a fierce competitor and a good teammate. I lost track after college, but after reading his bio, he was  very successful both as a businessman and a family man. I had no idea he had settled in Athens, my hometown. Please accept my sincere condolences on his passing.  We both shared a passion for the game we loved. Rest in Peace my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dan, or as he was affectionately known to his baseball teammates Zip.  He was a great guy and great player!  I learned everything I knew about being a catcher from Dan at Shawnee HS.  RIP Dan!
