Dorothy was born in Dodge County, GA. She was the daughter of D. T. Bass and Effie Mae Rogers. She is survived by her granddaughter Melinda Echols Hilsenbeck of Sydney, Australia and her brother Cleaston (Connie) of Clayton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a WWII bride, proud stay at home mother and talented seamstress. She was well known at church and family reunions for her fried chicken. After Carl, Betty, and Melinda moved North, she and her husband Jimmy moved from Augusta to open a local Athens business, Bass-Mims Goodyear that they ran for over 30 years.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was a proud Georgian who loved UGA football and always had pecans in the freezer to make one of her famous cakes. Her smile and quick wit will be missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21 in Evergreen Cemetery.
