A native of Chattanooga, TN, Mrs. Rodgers was a daughter of Phyllis Wilkins Swafford and the late Fred Swafford. She was a career educator in McDuffie, Columbia and Barrow counties with focus in Special Education. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the Athens Classic City Pilot Club and her interests included gardening and social work. She was an avid Bulldog fan and a graduate of the University of Georgia.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include husband, John Rodgers; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and William Anderson of Appling; son and daughter-in-law, John and Brenda Rodgers of High Point, NC; brother, Bill Swafford of Marietta; grandchildren, Georgia, Rod and Jensen Anderson and Ella Grace and Mary Eden Rodgers.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 12 at 5 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
