

Erma Macbeth, 89, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Athens, GA. Born on December 20, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Edith Lawrence Barrows. Erma lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and sincerity.
A graduate of Union College, Erma received degrees in Art, French, and Religion. With this love of learning, she recognized her calling in Education and pursued her Master’s from Eastern Connecticut State University. She taught many subjects and grade levels over the span of her 43-year career. Erma loved teaching and loved her students; she recognized each of her students’ unique abilities and potential.
Erma had a creative soul and a curious mind. She possessed exquisite talent for art and music and could also troubleshoot a computer program or put together furniture. She loved to garden and had a deep appreciation for nature. She saw beauty and purpose in all things and was deeply rooted in her faith. Erma was a devoted mother with a deep capacity to love. Beloved by many, Erma touched countless lives with her generosity and warmth during her remarkable lifetime.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Heather Macbeth. She was predeceased by her husband Gerard Macbeth, and her sons, Scott Macbeth and Todd Macbeth.
Erma was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Evergreen Cemetery, 99 Evergreen Street, Moosup, CT.
