

Frances Terry Melton Marshall, 96 of Silverleaf, Athens, Georgia died May 6, 2012 of old age. She was born in Acworth, Ga. October 7, 1915 to the late Noah Blaine Terry and Mamie Lee Terry. She was preceded in death by her son Terrell J. Melton, her husband Terrell Jackson Melton, Sr. and her husband Wayne T. Marshall, brothers Doyle and Herbert Terry and sister Ruby T. Hendon.
She was a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church. A member of the Eastern Star for forty-two years, she was a past Matron of the Athens Chapter #268 O.E.S., the Pearl Matron’s Club of Ga., the Ladies Auxiliary of the Piedmont Rite Association and Athens Shrinettes. An avid sports fan, she was an active supporter of Athens YMCA, Little League, and Athens High School teams where her son excelled and, additionally, UGA teams, especially Lady Basketball Bulldogs.
Survivors include step daughters, Cindy Marshall Hamilton (DeWayne), Linda Marshall Conroy (Gregg), grandchildren Mark Hamilton and Betsy H. Mackie, Daniel Conroy and Kimberly C. Milliken and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephews Dennis Terry (Andree) and Randy Terry (Evelyn), nieces Deborah Wooten (Michael) and Suzanne Young (Walton) and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jerry Meredith officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Terry, Dahl Cochran, Randy Terry, Bill Thornton, Gregg Conroy, and DeWayne Hamilton. In lieu of flowers she wished that contributions be made to St. James United Methodist Church to improve the nursery.
