

A native of Madison County, and has resided in Bogart for over 50 years. Mr. Nelms was the son of the late William Howard and Osie Sorrows Nelms and was preceded in death by Mary Nelms his wife of 61 years, and brother Curtis Nelms. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed building.
Survivors include his son Gary Nelms and wife, Julia of Bogart, daughter, Gayla Creech and husband, Mike of Bogart, granddaughters, Jaime Stevens and husband Michael of Fayetteville, NC and Jennifer Turnbull and husband, Tim of Glennville, GA, grandsons Ryan (Rachel) Creech of Statham and Justin Creech, Carrolton, GA and great granddaughters, Karley and Sydney Stevens, Chelsea, Emma and Sara Turnbull, Madison and Savannah Creech; sisters Lucille (Billy) Faulkner, Hull, Charlene (Aldine) Carithers, Watkinsville, Virginia Myers, Bishop, Dot (Clarence) Dalton, Watkinsville, brothers Lee (Eve) Nelms, Donald Nelms, Lexington, Joe (Doris) Nelms, Watkinsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 10th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Rogers, Rev. Lee Hunter and Rev. Shanon Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, January 9th at Bernstein.
