

He was born in LaGrange, Georgia to Sam and Fannie Studdard. Jerry attended West Georgia College where he played varsity tennis and baseball, was president of his senior class and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He then attended the University of Alabama, was residence hall counselor, vice president of Alpha Kappa Delta sociological honor society and received a MA degree in Guidance. He worked as residence counselor at Clemson University, and after that, was hired at UGA as assistant housing director and worked part-time for the Athletic Association for over 40 years.
Throughout his career, Jerry made a lasting impact in education and community serving as chairman of the Oconee County Board of Education, president of Georgia School Boards Association, president of the Lions Club, president of the Little League Association—just to name a few.
Jerry was a member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church in Watkinsville.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Dixon Studdard; his brother, Calvin; sister, Barbara; and nephew, Chris.
He is survived by his daughters, Leigh Ann Williamson (Steve) and Leslie Diane Figley (Timothy); and his grandsons, Mitchell and Grant Williamson, who he loved beyond measure. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his strong work ethic, dedication, and unwavering commitment to family and community.
