Joan M. Swonger

Mrs. Swonger was a beloved resident of Greensboro, Georgia, and a native of Braddock, Pennsylvania, born to the late Leo and Rachel Crocker. Mrs. Swonger graduated from Braddock High School and went on to build a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and service.

Over the span of more than 30 years, Mrs. Swonger devoted herself to raising a beautiful family as a homemaker. She also enjoyed a successful career, working as a travel coordinator for Nicolon Corporation and later as the CFO with RJ Sales and Associates. Her professional achievements were matched by her vibrant personal interests. Mrs. Swonger was passionate about traveling, reading, quilting, painting, cooking and playing bridge with her Cedar Creek friends for nearly 50 years. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family.

In her retirement, Mrs. Swonger was actively involved in her community. At Reynolds Lake Oconee, she contributed her time and talents to the CIC, Greene County Elections, and the Reynolds Ladies Club, where she served various roles. Her dedication extended to the First Methodist Church in Greensboro, GA, where she volunteered with many activities including the congregational care ministry, artisan market and Nelson Circle.

Mrs. Swonger is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Alan Rabb of Greensboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Nicole Swonger of Roswell, GA; her four grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Chase and Rebecca Rabb, Spencer Rabb, Owen Swonger, Reed Swonger; and her great-grandchild, Henry Rabb.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 1, at First Methodist Church, Carey Station Road Campus, Greensboro, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Swonger’s memory to First Methodist Church, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.

Mrs. Swonger's legacy of love, service, and joy will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
