Kevin Vaughn Blount

Kevin Vaughn Blount, age 61, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026. Son of the late Fred and Jane Blount, Kevin was born April 10, 1964 in Athens, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Clarke County and was a graduate of Athens Technical School.

His wish was to be cremated. Arrangements are by Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends in the spring.

An auto mechanic by trade and a tinkerer at heart, he loved cooking, and working in his garden where he grew vegetables and beautiful zinnias. He enjoyed tending his beloved macaw, a blue and gold named Gandalf, who will now make a new home with friends. Kevin loved being outdoors and was an avid hiker and camper. He was an admirer of our National Parks and visited many of them. His favorite park was Cumberland Island National Seashore where he spent many happy days hiking, camping and basking in the glories of all that nature has to offer.

Kevin loved visiting and spending time with his family and friends. He had a delightful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke. His gentle and loving life will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jane Blount, as well as his brothers, Jimmy and Mike Blount and several other family members and close friends.

Kevin is survived by his brother, Terry Blount (Elaine) and sister, Kathie Blount Nuss (both of Athens), his sister-in-law, Cathy Blount (of Bethlehem, GA). He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Gwenith and Teagan Nuss, Anna, Rebekah and Michael Blount, and Beth Scott, his grand-nieces and nephew, Michelle and Jennifer, Bayleigh and Brenna, Olivia and Noah.
