Matthew was born on May 04, 1985, in Ashland, Ky. to his mother Kathy Eldridge Hofele and his late father Ricky Lee Francis. Matthew spent most of his adult life in Athens, Ga. before moving to Gainesville. He passed away under Hospice care in Gainesville, Ga. on July 17, 2025.
Matthew excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court and was quite a car enthusiast. He was loved by everyone that got to know him and was one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. He was always willing to help someone in need despite not having that much himself.
He is survived by his mother, Kathy Eldridge Hofele and stepfather, Kevin Hofele; brother, Jonathon Francis and his wife, Mona, of New Jersey; niece, Aurellia; and sister, Kristen Hofele in Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable contributions be made to the hospice ward at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
