

Nan Katherine Evans, age 67 of Athens Georgia died on April 21st 2011 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle against cancer. Nan was born in St. Paul Minnesota on November 10th 1943. She was the daughter of the late Audrey K and Charles M Best of Prairie Village Kansas. Nan graduated from St. Theresa’s Academy in Kansas City Mo, and attended the University of Missouri. Prior to living in Athens for the last 30 years, Nan lived in North Carolina, Texas and Arkansas.
Nan is survived by her three loving children: Elizabeth K. Smith (Tim) of Hall County, Laura M. Davis (Jeff), and Jeffrey C. Evans (Michelle) of Oconee County. Nan was also blessed with five grandchildren: Jacob C. Davis, Abbey M. Davis, Katherine E. Alexander, Jeffrey C. Evans Jr. and Owen R. Evans. Nan is also survived by two brothers: John Best of Gardena California, Richard Best of Kansas City Missouri and one sister Julia Edwards of Falcon Heights Minnesota. Additionally Nan is survived by her former husband Dr. Donald L. Evans. Nan was blessed with many lifelong friends who will miss her greatly. She was a great role model for her children and a dedicated, loving grandmother. She was a genuine southern lady in every sense of the word and an example of grace and strength for us all.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday April 25th at Evergreen Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Saturday April 23rd from 6 to 8 PM. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
