Richard H Andersen

Mr. Andersen was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the historic

community of Bishop Hill, Illinois. Mr. Andersen was the son of the

late Stephen Foss Andersen and Helen Charlotte Jacobson Andersen and

was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Andersen. He was a

retired soil scientist with the US Soils Conservation Service and a

member of St. James United Methodist Church.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Kindig Andersen; daughter, Debra Shaw

Hess and husband, Eric of White Plains, NY; son, Bryan Richard Shaw of

Athens; daughter, Gretchen Shaw Bowen and husband, Gary of Athens;

daughter, Leslie Shaw Hopkins and husband, Sam of Foster City, CA;

brother, Charles Andersen of Gaithersburg, MD; grandchildren, Brandon

Card, Helen Hess, Mariana Hess, Gabriel Bowen, and Gregory Bowen; and

great-granddaughter, Piper Card.

A service of joy will be held Sunday, August 19th at 2:30pm at St.

James United Methodist Church with Rev Bill Curington officiating.

Everyone is welcome who wishes to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The

Bigger Vision of Athens or to St. James United Methodist Church.
