Robert (Bob) Richard Blum

He was born in Mt. Oliver, PA on November 8. 1950. He was the son of the late Robert W. and Marion E. (Maskew) Blum, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Huber) Blum, father of Melinda (Prayok) Vongkunthong and the late Robert Paul Blum. Proud grandfather of Joshua, Macayla and Rebekah Vongkunthong. Brother of William (Nancy) Blum, Beatrice (Joseph) Borkowski and Gertrude (the late Donald) Meyer. Son-in-law of the late Paul G. and Eva F. Huber. Brother-in-law of Paul (the late Connie) Huber, Raymond (the late Laverne) Huber, David (Judith) Huber and the late Diane Huber. He was also “daddy” to his furry “son” Freddie.

Bob graduated from St. Joseph High School in Pittsburgh, PA in 1968. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era, was married in 1976 and moved to Athens, GA with his family in 1984.

He had a lengthy career in construction, starting at Ryan Homes in Pittsburgh, PA and ending at Truss Systems in Oxford, GA. After a short respite from construction, he retired as a custodian from Oconee County High School in 2012.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Family Hospice. Especially to CNA Lisa, Nurse Kerri, Social Worker Eva, Chaplain Eric and the on-call nurses for their kindness and caring.

A private memorial service will be announced on a later date.
