Sandra was born in Atlanta to the late Roland K. Weekley and Gwendolyn Jones Weekley, grew up in Decatur, and was a 1960 graduate of Decatur High School. Sandra went on to work with WSB Radio, for several years. Sandra then became the receptionist with Allen Insurance Agency and worked there until her retirement in 2006. Sandra was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur and was an honorary member of the Decatur Lions Club, having attended many years with her father.
In addition to her parents, her nephew, Frank Kendall Tipton, preceded her in death.
Sandra is survived by her daughters, Lisa Friend and her husband, Lee of Loganville and Wendy Nichols and her husband, Adam of Rome; sister, Ashlyn Tipton and her husband, William (Tip) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Ashley Nichols and Kaylee Nichols of Rome; and nephew, William (Tippy) Tipton, IV and his wife, Becky of Minnesota and their sons, Will and Andrew.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM in Bernstein Funeral Home. A 2:00 PM graveside funeral service will follow in Oconee Hill Cemetery, with Reverend Natalie King officiating.
