

Vickie was born on January 24, 1946, in Lexington County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Reverend and Mrs. Jackson Fields. She was also predeceased by her husband, William Posey “Bill” Horton Jr.
She is survived by her son, Billy and wife, Lori, and their children: Clay and Rachael and Alli and Zack; great-grandchildren: Parker, Anna and Hayden; daughter, Jenni and husband, Sean, and their son, Steger; and brother, Reverend Steven Fields.
Vickie was a member of First Baptist Church Athens where she participated in the Farrall-Aderhold Sunday school class, the choir and “The Seekers.” She worked many years in the church kitchen serving meals on Wednesday nights. She was active in the community for many years while owning and working at Horton’s Drug Store in downtown Athens. She loved her family and her church family, but most of all she loved Jesus.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church Athens. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Adams, Todd Cowart, Doug Dillard, Larry Divers, Wade Mullis and Shaun O’Rear.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pam Dillard, Sherri Divers, Carol and Alan Reddish, LaReece Stewart, Robin O’Rear, Nancy and Wilson Denney, Pam and Jackie Griffin, Jane and Lamar Houston, Judy and Jim Ebert and Tommie Hall.
