Alfred Keith (Keith) Housman, formerly of New Canaan, CT, and Bonita Springs, FL, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on October 30, 2024. Those lucky to know and love Keith will forever remember him for his profound belief in love, friendship, and loyalty. Keith was adored for his unique blend of charm and dry wit and kept his family and hospice team laughing until the end. A quintessential New Yorker, you could count on the “kid from Yonkers” to give it to you straight. Keith always prioritized his family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Keith was born to Alfred Edward and Grace Cosgrove on February 3, 1951, in Dothan, Alabama. He graduated from Pace University with a degree in business, and soon afterward earned his CPA license. In the early 1980s, he founded his accounting firm, which is now Housman & Elezovic, LLP in White Plains, NY. The firm is rooted in trust and integrity, evidenced by the longevity of its employees and clients, many of whom have been there for 30+ years and are like family. Keith’s reliability and strong moral compass were a guiding light for all those around him, many of whom sought his advice and counsel.
Golf was not just a hobby for Keith; each round played was an opportunity to immerse himself in the game, savoring the challenges and camaraderie. Five days before his passing, Keith joined his two sons and long-time friend Mark for one last round. He offered feedback from the cart and made sure they didn’t miss the 19th hole for cocktails and connection, which he always relished. Keith’s love for golf was a testament to his dedication and ability to find joy in the simple things.
Keith was married to the love of his life, Julie Pryor, for 39 years. The two were smitten from day one. They lived in Manhattan for eight years, where they welcomed two sons, Ryan and Jordan. Keith and his family eventually moved to New Canaan, CT, and called it home for 30 years. Julie, Ryan, and Jordan were his pride and joy, and he cherished their family adventures together, including summers in Montauk, NY, vacations across the world, and holiday gatherings at their second home in Bonita Springs, FL. When Ryan and Jordan married, Keith welcomed daughters-in-law, Mackenzie and Emily, as his own. He was a proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Luke (Ryan and Mackenzie), Finley, and Sawyer (Jordan and Emily). His commitment and love for his family were unconditional, and he leaves behind a legacy of family-focused values and a clear path for his children to follow.
In April 2024, Keith and Julie moved to Atlanta, GA, to be closer to family. Keith treasured these last few months spent enjoying family dinners, visits from friends near and far, countless ice pops shared with grandchildren in his lap, and fostering the deep connection with others that he so loved.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Alfred E. Housman; his mother, Grace C. Housman; and his sister, Suzanne B. Housman. He is survived by his wife, Julie Pryor; sons, Ryan (Mackenzie) and Jordan (Emily) Housman; his grandchildren, Luke, Finley, and Sawyer; his brother, Glenn Housman; and a multitude of in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom he adored.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to one of two meaningful organizations to Keith:
