Anthony “Tony” Persichetti, a beloved father, brother, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, and restaurateur, passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on July 7, 1964, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Tony was a longtime resident of Atlanta, Georgia, where he built a life filled with family, food, and laughter.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Isabella (“Bella”), his six siblings: Maria (husband Jock), John (wife Cissy), Tally (wife Alison), Rose (partner Dave), Vinnie (wife Crystal), and Meg (husband Richard), and by his former wife Kelly. He was the adored uncle of eight nieces and nephews: Natalie, Tyler, Ansley, Johnny, Rachel, Ava, Maya, and Jude. He is reunited in heaven with his son, Anthony Persichetti, and his parents, Carmella and Tally Persichetti.
Tony attended Greensburg Central Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986 with a degree in Business and Economics. His passion for the restaurant industry began early, waiting tables in high school. His love for food and people carried him through a remarkable career managing restaurants and eventually working for Maggiano’s Little Italy, where he helped open locations across the country, from Virginia to Dallas to Atlanta.
In 2022, Tony realized his dream of owning his own restaurant. He opened The New York Butcher Shoppe in Milton, Georgia, later expanding to Johns Creek. A passionate foodie and extraordinary chef, Tony had the gift of turning any dish into something spectacular. Cooking was not only his craft but his love, especially when preparing meals for and with his family. As a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tony’s passion for the black and gold was a reflection of his love for life.
Tony will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, his calming presence, and his unwavering kindness. He was a thoughtful, funny, and charming man who could diffuse the most difficult situations with his warm, reassuring smile and open heart. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father, a role he embraced wholeheartedly.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held on Sunday, February 2, at H. M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta. A public visitation will be from 1-2pm, followed by a service at 2pm. A reception will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Tony’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, his employees, his customers, and the countless lives he touched through his warmth, wit, and unwavering love.
