Born on January 29, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Peyton and Barbara Bledsoe, Betty's family later settled in Atlanta, where she attended Briarcliff High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. She went on to attend Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina, where she joined Zeta Tau Alpha, before transferring to the University of Georgia to complete her bachelor's degree. She later earned her Master's degree from Georgia State University.
Betty dedicated 36 years to teaching, primarily instructing eighth-grade students at Summerour and Lanier Middle Schools in Gwinnett County. Betty excelled at teaching students at this age, showing them endless warmth and dedication. She made a lasting impact through her students' growth and the kindness she demonstrated daily.
Outside the classroom, Betty was known for her strong faith and generosity. Her beliefs were evident through her actions; she was a dedicated member of Parkway Baptist Church in Duluth and crocheted scarves for the people of Ukraine, putting care and warmth into every stitch. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: tending her garden through each changing season, enjoying a friendly, albeit competitive, tennis match, or cheering on her beloved Georgia Bulldogs every Saturday, each with the same heartfelt enthusiasm she brought to all she cherished.
Above all, those who knew Betty will remember her laughter, her strong will, and her ability to bring light into everyday moments. Her grace remained evident through her final days, leaving lasting impressions on those who cared for her with her gratitude, kindness, and love.
Betty is survived by her husband, Mark Suiter; her son, Corey Suiter, and daughter-in-law, Amy Suiter; her cherished granddaughters, Harper and Finley Suiter; her sister, Barbara Evans; and her great-nephew, Peyton Hedrick.
She is survived by a loving family, a grateful community, and a legacy of love.
The family invites you to attend a visitation at 1:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 29, at Parkway Baptist Church in Duluth, GA.
