Blanche was born in Montgomery, AL and moved to Atlanta in 1925. Her family joined Virginia Avenue Baptist Church when she was three years old. The Church is now known as Virginia-Highland Church (UCC). At the time of her death, she was still a member.
Blanche attended grammar school at the school across the street from the Church. After completing grammar school, she graduated from Grady High School. Blanche’s first place of employment was the Baptist Home Mission Board. She started working there in a clerical position after WWII.
After working at the Baptist Home Mission Board, she began working as a Secretary for the Atlanta office of Sawyer, Ferguson, and Walker. This company engaged in advertising sales to newspapers. Her final place of employment was with the Atlanta Advertising Office of the Chicago Sun Times and Daily News. She worked as the Executive Secretary to the Advertising Director.
