Carol Rowe Dillion, of Brookhaven, GA, passed away in peace on February 7th, 2025 while surrounded by her two children, Sarah Strunk and Russell Dillion, as well as many friends and family supporting from near and far.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Louis Howard Dillion, Jr., her parents Homer and Louise Rowe, and her brother Robert Preston Rowe. She is survived by her two children (Sarah and Russell), son-in-law Greg Strunk, daughter-in-law Debbie Dillion, and her four grandchildren (Sadie Strunk, Ethan Strunk, Lyle Dillion and Harper Dillion).
Carol was born in 1939 in Wichita, Kansas, but moved many times with her family before landing in Atlanta in 1955. Carol and Howard met through the Catholic Singles Club, a group that was a source of life-long friendships. Her family of four finally settled in the Murphey Candler area of Brookhaven in 1974, which would be the final home Carol would live for the next 50 years.
Although Carol was forced into single parenthood after Howard's battle with cancer took him prematurely in 1986, she persevered to raise her two children, send them to college, and enjoy a full, active life. Carol played ALTA tennis most of her adult life and served as a coordinator for many seasons. She played in multiple bridge leagues and attended OLA Catholic Church every Sunday. She worked part-time for the accounting firm GH&I, as well as volunteered her time at OLA and St. Vincent's de Paul. She traveled with her childhood friend, Bernie, to Europe several times. Carol was a college sports fan, adopting Howard's alma mater, Georgia Tech, as her team. She wouldn't miss an opportunity to share her disdain for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Services will be held this Summer at a time and place to be communicated directly with her surviving friends, family and neighbors whom she loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, or your favorite charity.
