

Carolyn was born on July 2, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia to Richard T. and Elva Simpson. She graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta Georgia, where she was the captain of the basketball team, Wesleyan College, and the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Carolyn married George Ewing in 1955, and they lived in Atlanta until 1993, when they moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia and Sapphire, North Carolina. In Atlanta, Mrs. Ewing was a member of the Rose Garden Club of Atlanta, The Junior League of Atlanta, The Cathedral of St. Phillip, and supported Egleston Hospital. On St. Simons Island, she was a member of Christ Church. However, her greatest joy was being with her family and entertaining friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ewing of Alexandria, Virginia and Elaine E. Williamson (Jay) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a brother Haywood Simpson (Terri) of New Bern, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ewing was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, George, as well as her brother, Richard T. Simpson.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caregivers at Marsh’s Edge on St. Simons Island, and the staff of BrightStar Care in Brunswick, Georgia, for their care and support.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 10 until 11 o’clock at. H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill, followed by a Gravesite Service at 12 o’clock noon at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. A Memorial Service will be held at Marsh’s Edge on St. Simons Island on July 22, 2015 at 3 o’clock.
