

Mrs. Catherine F. Davis, age 93, of Chamblee, GA died Saturday, January 28, 2012. Born May 20, 1918, in Ingleside (now Avondale Estates), Georgia, the daughter of John Samuel Farrar and Lena Alberta David Farrar. After graduating from Agnes Scott College, she worked for the telephone company, then married and became a homemaker. She is preceded in death by husband Richard Edwards Davis and son John Richard Davis. She leaves behind a daughter Sara Davis White, her husband Russell Edward White, Sr., and two grandchildren and their wives, Russell and Karina White and John and Jeanette White, a cousin Sara I. Loveless as well as numerous other relations and friends. As a loving mother, she enjoyed her own children and was quick to take an interest in their friends, encouraging those who needed a good word. She was a meticulous record keeper, an avid reader, and lover of birds and flowers. An intelligent, gracious woman she never stopped learning and took an active interest in the Chamblee community to which she had moved at the young age of 88. A life long Methodist, she had attended Druid Hills UMC and St. Timothy UMC and was currently a member of Chamblee First UMC. Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine F. Davis will be held at Chamblee First United Methodist Church, Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at H.M. Patterson and Son-Oglethorpe Hill.
