Charles Daniel “Charley” Joyner, IV passed away on December 8, 2016 at the age of 25 in Statesboro, GA. Charley was many things in life: loving son, loyal brother, and devoted to all in his big family, both young and old.
Charley was a graduate of Woodward Academy in Atlanta and Georgia Southern University. Charley was an athlete (5th place in state in wrestling) and an intellect (3.95 GPA in Math at GSU), a comedian and a wonderful friend. He loved his family and friends, math, sports, sushi, steak, food in general, and action movies. Charley was a thoughtful and insightful person who told great stories and listened with equal enthusiasm. His death at a young age leaves the world a little dimmer and a lot less interesting.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Bowen Isakson; his father, Charles Daniel Joyner, III; his stepfather, John Andrew Isakson; his stepmother, Tracey Jones Joyner; his beloved sister, Jane Joyner; his other siblings, Riley Isakson and Jack Isakson; his grandparents, Jane and JL Jerden and Missie Joyner; his aunt, Ginny Joyner; his uncles, Jim Jerden and his wife, Monica and Eddie Jerden and his wife Ali; many cousins and friends, and of course, his dog, Mia. Charley is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Daniel Joyner, Jr.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at H.M. Patterson’s Spring Hill Chapel from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A celebration of Charley’s life will follow on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:00am at Northside Drive Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charley’s name to Louie’s House, http://www.recoveryhousesservices.com/louies-house.
